10 ways to celebrate Valentine's Day 2026 in Freo
Have you locked in your plans for the most romantic day of the year? Whatever your style, Fremantle has the perfect date for you. Here's 10 of the best to get you started.
Moon & Mary
1. Dinner and drinks
It's a date night classic for a reason. Whether you're after a relaxed bite at a welcoming local favourite or want to level up the vibes with something refined and intimate, you can take your pick in Freo.
For waterfront dining straight from the Med try Jetty Bar & Eats, for a dinner oozing charm in a 100-year old cottage book The Bridge House, or go for bold share plates and fun cocktails at Moon & Mary – born from the true Freo love story of Moon and Mary Chow.
For whisky lovers, Malt 'n' Gold's Blind Date with Whisky tasting experience is sure to be a hit. (It comes with chocolate!)

Sealanes Seafood Market
2. Sunset on the beach
What's more romantic than watching the sun go down over the sea? For something lowkey but every bit as special, pack a picnic or pick up a takeaway and head straight for one of Fremantle's five spectacular beaches.
For a feast of epic proportions head to Sealanes at South Beach and take your pick from a bountiful menu of fish, squid, prawns, oysters, poke bowls, tacos, and fish burgers, or if the inner city's Bathers Beach is calling, you're spoilt for choice at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour with Cicerello's, Kailis, and Twin Fin all mere steps away.
Not a seafood lover? Visit one of Fremantle's gourmet delicatessens and choose your own taste adventure at Kakula's and Little Sister on Market Street, while Manna Wholefoods takes care of the South Beach crew and Rocky Bay Deli has visits to North Fremantle's Port, Leighton, and Sandtrax beaches covered.
Luna on SX
3. Movie night
A bohemian little picture house showing a range of quality arthouse and independent cinema, Luna on SX is a big piece of the rich, cultural fabric that makes Freo, Freo. With a cosy, intimate feel that the big chains just don't have, it's the perfect spot for a night at the movies.
Plus with some of Fremantle's trendiest bars and restaurants on its surrounding streets, dinner before or after your screening is taken care of too. No dishes on Valentine's!
MANIAX Axe Throwing, FOMO Freo
4. Game night
After something a little more adventurous... or competitive? Say no more. Challenge each other to a game of darts at Flight Club, head to FOMO Freo for arcades, mini golf, and ten pin bowling, or go full Viking at Australia's ultimate AXE-perience, MANIAX.
This Is Your Trial! The Fully-Improvised Comedy Courtroom
5. Catch a Fringe show
For bonding over belly laughs, grab your tickets for the Old Courthouse's critically-acclaimed courtroom roast, This Is Your Trial! IF you can handle it, accuse each other of crimes while top comedians take on the roles of judge and lawyer. The verdict, as ever, is up to you, the audience – our jury.
Also on over Valentine's weekend is Jez Watts' hilarious comedy hour at the Sail & Anchor and 10 Things You Shouldn't Do over at Frankie's at the Norfolk.
The Gotta Lovers, Honky Tonk Blues Bar
6. Or go to a gig
For a boot-scootin' good time, head to the one and only Honky Tonk Blues Bar in Freo's West End for a taste of good ol' southern hospitality. This Valentine's Day, who else but The Gotta Lovers are live from 9.15pm but if you're up for a true hoedown, get down from 6:30pm for their free line dance class first.
For a more chilled out vibe, get down to the Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre from 2pm on Sunday the 15th for the latest installment of Sunday Music with Emily Barker and Mark Holdsworth's Loom of the Land inspired performance for Perth Festival.

Neighbourhood Sauna, South Beach
7. Unwind with a sauna or spa day
Freo does relaxation just as well as it does dining and dancing. Get steamy in a beautiful Finnish sauna at The Neighbourhood Sauna, book a rejuvenating ice bath or float session at Clear Mind Studio, or settle in for a massage at one of Fremantle's many incredible salons, including the Garde's latest spa offering.

Charter 1
8. Cruise on Charter 1
Chilled out tunes, the sea breeze, and sipping champagne on a luxury catamaran? As far as Valentine's dates go, a sunset cruise on Freo's distinctive yellow Charter 1 is hard to beat. If you want to up the ante this year, this is the ticket you're after.

9. Trust in a thoughtful gift
Of course, there's absolutely zero wrong with a classic flowers and choccie combo, or a thoughtful gift from one of Freo's beloved indie retailers.
Order a bunch from The Flower Hound or newbies Ugly Bunch, who have popped up next to the Cool Room on Holland Street. For the sweet stuff Coal River Farm has you covered while Wise Child Wine Store or Old Bridge Cellars look after drinks.
As for gifts, you really are spoilt for choice... from art, books, and vinyl to handcrafted jewellery, mugs, and homewares, your only challenge will be narrowing it down.
