Fremantle Chamber Orchestra performs with energy, expression and subtlety: a superb listening experience from the first to the last note.
Mozart’s symphony No 40, Great G minor, opens the concert. This is a truly grand work, one of Mozart’s last and 1 of only 2 in a minor key. Charles Rosen called it “a work of passion, violence, and grief.”
Arvo Pärt’s Da Pacem Domine (Give Peace, Lord) contrasts and complements Mozart’s master piece.
Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto 2, a romantic master piece, featuring the amazing James Dekleva, unusually starts with a slow movement progressing into the hilariously furious Tarantella finale. With John Keene conducting, this promises to be a grand listening experience indeed.
