Duke of George presents:
Mike Burns "A New Smile" Album Launch
A Perth muso since 1976 (b. Melb), Mike Burns is a prodigious songwriter and composer who's played dozens of festivals, projects and gigs across Australia - and a few in Java, NZ and Portugal.
After ten years of recovery from a catastrophic accident, amputation and a new smile, he's back in action with a tasty selection of styles from his:
"Album of American-influenced original music infused with fado rhythms and flourishes. The aptly named A New Smile was released in 2025, with superb horn arrangements by Burns and Paul Millard and featuring guitar legend Dave Brewer and vocalist/harmonica player Chelsea Gibson"
- Ian Lilburne Xpress magazine May '26
He was recently asked to showcase the album on the East Coast, and will return as the Founding Musician for Newcastle's Royal Exchange in July. Known locally as a Gamelan Man, a Portuguese fado expert, a Bluegrass mandolinist, a music-theatre creator or a Freo Markets busker, Mike is fascinated by the entire world of music, and looks forward to sharing some of it with you.
You'll see great musicianship, passion and a sense of humour with:
Mike Burns - vocals and guitars
Chelsea Gibson - vocals and harmonica
Paul Millard - tenor saxophone
Jon Fernandes - bass
Bronton Ainsworth - Trumpet and drums
