Exhibition | Tethered (concentrating on small but important things)

26 April 2022
Artist Rob/KVT has had one foot in Hanoi and the other in Fremantle for 20 years. As the world locked down, he adjusted to being tethered. And he painted. This is his solo art exhibition.

The artist paints still life interiors populated with found objects from both countries, including liquorice allsorts and a resident willy wagtail - and weekly verbal advice, via Skype, from Sa, a 4 year old kid tethered in Ngoc Thuy. He nostalgically paints Vietnamese mountain landscapes by way of earrings worn by ethnic females in Vietnam.

Slowly settling back into Australia, he uses more of its iconography. From sketches, he paints Sa, playing in a hot 2018 WA summer.

Free liquorice allsorts on tap at the Doghouse.

The artist will donate 10% of sales directly to a group that financially and humanely assists refugees recently released from hotel detention.
