School holidays and public holidays
The peak Australian school holiday period is mid December through to the end of January each year with periods of two weeks between terms throughout the year.
School holiday periods in other Australian states may differ from Western Australia’s school holiday calendar. For school holiday and term information visit the Department of Education website.
Public holidays mostly commemorate landmark Australian historic events or religious celebrations with an average of ten public holidays per year.

- Boxing Day
If a State holiday falls on a weekend the extra day holiday is taken the first working day following week.
